Friday in town

DH and I spent a lovely couple of hours in town, doing some browsing, shopping and enjoying the sunshine :-)

The bounty

Very typical - yarn and books :-) The yarn is the mercerised cotton I mentioned in an entry last week and a skein of the polyester tape yarn that is the perfect colour match for the trousers - I want to play around a bit and see what I come up with. The cotton is slated to become a crochet bag, I've 'chained on' already!

Choosing yarn

I feel a slight urge to knit something springy - when does the new Knitty come out?

I think I'd like to knit a plain-cotton sweater, Mam found one the other day which she'd knit in the 80s, and I quite like it! So I have these turquoise trousers, of a colour unlike anything else in my wardrobe, and I'd like to knit a white sweater with coloured accents to go with it.
Looking at Roedel today, I found a variegated mercerised cotton yarn in white/light green/turquoise which I really like - except I didn't want to use *mercerised* cotton ... Hmmm.
Of the plain cotton, there was no shade that goes with the trousers (except white, of course).
But I found a yarn which is *the exact same colour* as the trousers but it's a polyester tape yarn! I don't want a whole piece knitted from polyester but I wouldn't mind using it as an accent. But white plain cotton with turquoise polyester?

What would you do?

More shopping!

I've done a lot of yarn shopping recently but not much knitting, hmm. I think it's a sort of reverse nesting urge where I feel I need to make use of German bargains before moving away but I just don't have the patience for much knitting because I'm all over the place emotionally. I'm sorry for the lack of real knitting content here recently, I'm not in my usual crafty groove ...

Anyway, this is a load of sock yarns from my eBay bargain (most of it for me, some for a friend) - and the Pony Pearls needles on top:

Finally - the yarn from Schoppel-Wolle! A far smaller order from clearance (since the first order mysteriously disappeared and clearance was raided before I could place another order), but here's what I got:

1 skein tweedy charcoal
2 skeins beige with light blue and brown flecks

More yarn

There's a 100g skein of olive green sock yarn and a 50g skein of a brown/beige/berry tones colourway and three skeins of brightly coloured cotton tape yarn - I feel like making a spring bag :-)
The wee rose/lilac ball in the middle is a freebie gift of superfine merino :-) There was also a freebie small measuring tape which escaped being photographed.

Oh no!

Remember the big order for feltable yarn I placed three weeks ago in that clearance sale? I was getting annoyed because the money wasn't drawn from my account, and there was no sign of the order either. So I investigated and just got the confirmation that something went awry with the ordering process, and they never got my order :-(((

And as it was a clearance sale, I won't be able to order the same colourways again ...

Here is where I ordered the yarn :-)

It's a German shop, you need to click on "Reste und Aktionen" in the left-hand menu. The feltable yarn is "Landhaus", available in plain colours, tweed or printed colourways. There's also plenty of other yarn (wool/pa mixes, cotton mixes, superwash merino) available in the clearance section.
In the regular shop there is cotton sock yarn which is pure cotton plus pa but no wool - I know some people are allergic to wool.

I've just bought 23 skeins of feltable pure wool yarn in all sorts of colours @ 1.45 Euro per skein :-))

I lost my first attempt at ordering in a computer crash earlier today and when I collected the yarn I wanted the second time now there was already a lot less available! But I ordered plenty and added some plain single-colour sock yarn as well. Woo-hoo!

Tomorrow I'll be ordering some knitting books on Amazon, I got a voucher for my birthday :-)

Hey, I managed to get what I needed from Rödel for a change!

Just two skeins of beige Regia 4-ply sock yarn for a secret project, how lovely just to buy locally w/o waiting for shipping (and paying for it) :-)
